Poetry Minisode | "Conversation with My Soul" — Honouring the Relatioship with Your Creativity

poetry minisode Apr 20, 2026

In this podcast episode of Soul-Led Creative Women, I share a deeply personal poetry minisode titled “Conversation with My Soul.”

This piece explores something many of us feel… but don’t always have the words for.

The quiet, powerful relationship that forms between you and your creativity.

Because at some point, if you stay with it long enough…
your creative practice stops feeling like something you do,
and starts feeling like something that meets you.

Conversation with My Soul

An unexpected comfort,

a companion in the dark.

You fill me with wonder,

and at the same time,

soothe my heart.

A gift of marks and colour,

haunting faces you awoke.

A special kind of energy,

captured slowly with every stroke.

Honest messages land with ease,

shining a light on my own power.

Not because I’m stupid,

it's the noise you help me devour.

This magic kind of feeling,
keeps me showing up for more.

My voice of truth and healing,

too sacred to ignore.

Time spent in a deeply moving,

conversation with my soul.

A gentle kind of whisper,

that invites me to feel whole.

Creativity as a Conversation, Not a Performance

So often, we are taught to approach creativity as something to improve, perfect, or measure.

But what if your art wasn’t something to get right…
what if it was something to listen to?

In my own journey, creativity has become a space where I can meet myself honestly.
Not through thinking, analysing, or trying to figure everything out…
but through colour, marks, movement, and presence.

It becomes a conversation.

A quiet unfolding.

A place where something deeper begins to speak.

When Creativity Meets You in the Dark

One of the most powerful parts of this poem is the idea of creativity as a companion in the dark.

Not something that demands clarity or perfection…
but something that sits with you in the unknown.

Through the process of creating, emotions that felt hard to access begin to surface.
Symbols appear.
Energy shifts.
Something hidden begins to reveal itself.

And often… it doesn’t arrive in words.

It arrives through what you create.

This is where creativity becomes more than expression.
It becomes a mirror.

You Don’t Need to Figure It All Out

There is a line in the poem that speaks to this beautifully…
that the messages “land with ease.”

This is such an important shift.

Because the power of creativity doesn’t come from forcing meaning.
It comes from allowing meaning to emerge.

When you soften your need to define everything, something opens.

You begin to see that your creativity is already intelligent.
Already guiding you.
Already speaking.

The “noise” we often feel in life…
the overwhelm, the confusion, the self-doubt…
isn’t something we need to fight.

It’s something we can move through.

Creativity becomes the space where that noise softens…
and your truth becomes easier to hear.

Reclaiming Your Creative Power

Another layer within this poem is the recognition of power.

Not power in the sense of control or force…
but power as connection.

Power as truth.

Power as the ability to sit with yourself, honestly and openly,
and allow what is real to move through you.

When you create from this place, something shifts.

You begin to trust yourself more.
You begin to see meaning where you once saw uncertainty.
You begin to feel a sense of wholeness that isn’t dependent on outcomes.

A Gentle Return to Wholeness

At its core, this piece is about remembering.

Remembering that your creativity is not separate from you.
It is part of you.

A voice.
A guide.
A companion.

And when you give yourself the space to engage with it…
even in small, simple ways…
you begin to feel something soften.

Something settle.

Something return.

Not something new…
but something that was always there.

A Reflection for You

You may wish to take a quiet moment here to reflect…

Where in your life or creative practice have you felt this kind of conversation begin to emerge?

What is your creativity gently trying to show you, if you allowed it to speak without needing to fully understand it?

And what might shift if you trusted that what is coming through you… is already meaningful?
