Poetry Minisode - "Blooms of Summer" | Honouring Creative Seasons

poetry minisode Jun 15, 2026

We live in a world that celebrates the bloom.

The finished artwork.

The breakthrough.

The success story.

The visible transformation.

Yet what often goes unnoticed are the quieter seasons that make those blooms possible.

The seasons of uncertainty.

The seasons of preparation.

The seasons where little appears to be happening on the surface, yet something important is slowly taking root beneath.

One of the greatest gifts creativity has offered me is the understanding that growth is cyclical.

Just as nature moves through seasons, so too do our creative lives.

There are seasons for listening.

Seasons for expressing.

And seasons for resting and integrating.

The challenge is that we often want the blooms without the journey.

We want clarity without the uncertainty.

Growth without the patience.

Expression without the vulnerability.

Yet creativity continually reminds us that every beautiful bloom begins as a seed.

The following poem emerged from reflecting on these creative seasons and the wisdom they offer us.

Sacred Love

Sometimes my head says different.
But my heart is wise enough to know.
Whilst the blooms of summer are beautiful.
Their journey is not an easy road.

For long before their glory.
Before their petals swell and rise.
There is a quieter season.
That asks my art to hide.

Seeds of inspiration must be planted first.
Many days of tender care.
A patient inner stirring inviting strength laid bare.

Without these early gentle plights the blooms don't last so long.
Lack lustre buds and fragile stems, instead of precious gems.

When all is done and summer's gone.
It's time for restful pause.
Time to sit with the beauty, the magic, the truth.
Before once again I call.

For the vibrant blooms of summer
For the re-birthing of my soul.

The Wisdom Hidden Within the Seasons

I think many of us spend our lives longing for summer.

For the season of confidence.

The season of momentum.

The season where creativity flows and life feels expansive.

But the poem reminds us that summer is only one part of the cycle.

Before the bloom comes the planting.

Before the confidence comes the uncertainty.

Before the expression comes the listening.

The seed does not become a flower overnight.

It requires time.

Patience.

Nurturing.

Trust.

The same is true for us.

There are seasons when creativity asks us to gather inspiration rather than produce.

Seasons when it asks us to experiment rather than perfect.

And seasons when it asks us to pause and reflect rather than push forward.

These quieter chapters can feel uncomfortable because they don't offer the same visible evidence of progress.

Yet they are often the seasons where the deepest growth is taking place.

You Weren't Meant to Bloom All Year

One of the most compassionate truths creativity has taught me is that we were never meant to remain in a constant state of growth and productivity.

Nature doesn't bloom all year.

And neither do we.

There are times when life asks us to create.

There are times when life asks us to listen.

And there are times when life asks us to rest.

Each season serves a purpose.

Each season develops something different within us.

Trust.

Courage.

Wisdom.

Perhaps the invitation is not to force ourselves into a different season.

Perhaps the invitation is to honour the one we're in.

Because the season that appears the least productive may be preparing us for our most meaningful bloom.

A Gentle Reflection

What part of yourself is currently growing beneath the surface, even if nobody else can see it yet?

Perhaps today is not about forcing the bloom.

Perhaps today is simply about trusting the seed.
