Poetry Minisode - "Beauty in the Fight" | A thank you to creativity for the invitation to become more fully ourselves
Jul 14, 2026There are some experiences that are difficult to explain.
The quiet ache of disappointment.
The uncertainty of not knowing what's next.
The emotions we carry that don't always have words.
For me, creativity has become a place where those experiences can simply exist. Not to be fixed or rushed away, but to be witnessed. Over the years, my paintbrushes, charcoal and sketchbooks have quietly held space for parts of myself that I didn't yet understand.
This month's poem is a reflection on that relationship.
It's a thank you to creativity for helping me navigate life's changing seasons with greater honesty, compassion and hope. A reminder that while creativity can produce beautiful artwork, perhaps its greatest gift is helping us transform what we carry within into something we can understand, honour and eventually release.

Beauty in the Fight
Your capacity for holding,
what's buried deep inside.Dormant soul whispers,
quietly waiting for their time.Emotions like a rainbow,
finding sun after rain. The pain, the aches, the silence,
finally have their chance again.Like a mirror of my insides.
A reflection of my truth.
An echo in the darkness.
A reminder of wisdom that follows youth.A friend for all the seasons.
A life companion for the ride. The brief uninvited rollercoaster,
you have no choice but to fly.So thank you, paint and charcoal.
Thank you, inspiration and delight.Without you, it would be so much harder,
to turn disappointments into light. To know myself with candour.
To know there's beauty in the fight.
A Gentle Reflection
What if creativity isn't simply something you do?
What if it's one of the places you return to when life asks you to grow?
Perhaps every brushstroke, every page and every moment of creative expression is helping you know yourself a little more deeply.
And perhaps that's one of the most beautiful gifts creativity has to offer.
