Use Creativity to Unlock Your Everyday Genius | Taryn Voget

podcast summaries spiritual transformation Oct 27, 2025

When I sat down with Taryn Voget,  founder of Genius Lab and host of The Everyday Genius Show, we didn’t talk about genius as a title you earn. We talked about it as a way of living you can practise today. Taryn’s approach is beautifully simple and very human: creativity is the fuel, and genius is the path you walk one honest step at a time.

Summary:

Genius as a verb

Taryn reframes genius from a fixed identity to a daily practice. That shift alone is freeing. You don’t need to wait for permission or for perfect conditions. You begin where you are, with what you have, and let the work itself teach you. In her words, genius shows up most reliably when you keep showing up for it.

Passion, strategy, channelling

A core part of our chat was Taryn’s three-part model:

  • Passion: Follow what lights you up, even in small doses. Passion lifts your state, expands your attention, and makes new ideas easier to see. Think of it as fuel, not a reward you earn later.

  • Strategy: This is your way of doing the thing. Try something, notice what worked, refine, repeat. No drama, just a loop of learning.

  • Channeling: Those moments when time drops away and the next right step lands — in the shower, on a walk, during a quiet page of writing. You can’t force it, but you can create conditions that invite it.

Together, these three parts create momentum. Passion opens the door, strategy moves you through it, and channeling offers guidance that logic alone can miss.

Confidence is earned by doing

We explored confidence as the result of action, not the prerequisite. Taryn shared how creative reps — tiny, consistent acts — compound into trust. When you do the thing, even imperfectly, your system learns you can rely on yourself. The win may be small, but it counts. Stack enough of them and your nervous system relaxes. You feel safer to try the next brave step.

Purpose is chosen

Another powerful reframe: purpose isn’t a message you wait to receive, it is a choice you make. If life won’t allow a full pivot yet, Taryn suggests two levers you can move today — reduce what drains you and amplify what energises you. Over time the path opens because your daily reality starts to reflect what you value.

Your hobbies count

I loved Taryn’s reminder that “non-serious” creative play is not separate from meaningful work. When you sketch, sing, garden, dance, or collage for the joy of it, you’re training the muscles of attention, curiosity, and courage. Those same muscles support your career, relationships, and wellbeing. Play builds capability in disguise.

Balancing flow and structure

We also talked about bringing more feminine creativity online — flow, intuition, receptivity — and pairing it with simple structure. Too much structure without soul feels brittle. Too much flow without a container can scatter your energy. The balance is personal, but it’s worth tending. A short ritual, a light plan, and a gentle review can hold a lot of magic.

Taryn’s work is a generous invitation to live on purpose now, not later, to let creativity be the engine that carries you into your next chapter. If this resonates, I think you’ll love the full conversation.

Reflection for You:

If genius is a verb, what single creative act will you do today, what tiny improvement will you make to your way of working, and what quiet pocket will you protect this week so the next right idea can land?
