Poetry Minisode - "Creative Shift" - An Invitation to Honour the Evolution of Your Artistic Identity
Dec 15, 2025There are seasons in a creative woman’s life when something begins to stir beneath the surface. It’s subtle at first — a restlessness, a whisper, an ache. A quiet sense that the way you’ve been creating, even if it has always served you, no longer reflects the fullness of who you are now.
I’ve been moving through one of these seasons myself.
Behind the scenes, I’ve been exploring new textures, new rhythms, new ways of expressing the deeper layers of my inner world. Not because my old creative identity was wrong or broken, but because it had simply grown too small for the woman I’ve become. And like all living things, our creativity needs room — room to breathe, to stretch, to evolve.
To honour this moment in my own creative evolution, I wrote a poem. It reflects the quiet power of this in-between space, the courage required to shed an old identity, and the rising spark that calls us toward the new.
I’m sharing it here in the hope that it meets you in whatever creative season you’re in.

Creative Shift
There is a beautiful shift that yours,
a soft call forward, to explore. Not to abandon your artistic home,
but to add new depth,
infuse more soul.To honour this creative pull,
and open a doorway,
to the sound of your soul,
you must shed delicate layers,
of the artist you’ve become.
And follow tender curiosity,
to the beat of a new drum.Beyond the fear of this identity crisis,
is the birth of new artistry,
a blending, a deepening,
a chance to charter new mastery. This voice may not shout or scream.
Instead, it whispers in the space in between
an unsettled discomfort,
the taste of a new spark,
a rising fire,
in the belly of each brave, new mark.
The Meaning Behind the Poem
A creative shift rarely arrives with noise or clarity.
It arrives as a gentle disruption.
The discomfort you feel is not a sign that something is wrong.
It’s a sign that something new is trying to be born.
As creative women, we often mistake this discomfort for self-sabotage or recklessness. We worry we’re abandoning what works, or losing the identity we’ve carefully built. But more often, what is happening is far more tender:
Your creativity is asking for more of you.
More depth.
More soul.
More truth.
More room.
When we loosen our grip and let our creativity move through us, rather than trying to control it, we reconnect with a kind of creative flow that feels timeless, limitless, and transcendent. The way creativity felt before perfectionism crept in. The way it felt before productivity took the front seat. The way it feels when we trust our inner voice instead of resisting it.
This shift doesn’t mean abandoning your artistic home.
It means widening it.
Allowing new layers to emerge.
Infusing more soul into what already exists.
Following your tender curiosity to the edge of your next chapter.
This is the fertile space where new artistry is born — not through force, but through listening.
Reflection for You
Take a quiet moment to place a hand on your heart and ask yourself:
Which part of your creative identity is asking for more room to breathe, evolve, or be expressed in a new way right now?
